Moving from Sage Business Cloud Accounting to AccPro Lite

A practical migration checklist for South African businesses and practices leaving Sage Business Cloud Accounting and Sage Payroll.

Before you start

You do not have to move history. Almost every successful migration keeps Sage Business Cloud Accounting as a read-only archive and trades forward in AccPro Lite from a clean changeover date, carrying across only the trial balance and open items. Budget about two hours for a single company.

The seven steps

  1. 1.Pick your changeover date

Choose the first day of a VAT period or financial year. Keep Sage Business Cloud Accounting read-only for history — you do not need to migrate every past transaction.

  2. 2.Export your master files from Sage Business Cloud Accounting

Export customers, suppliers, the chart of accounts and your item list as CSV or Excel. Most products offer this under reports or settings.

  3. 3.Export the trial balance at the changeover date

This is the single most important file. It becomes your opening balances in AccPro Lite, so the balance sheet carries forward exactly.

  4. 4.Import into AccPro Lite

Create your company, then import the chart of accounts, customers and suppliers, and post the trial balance as an opening journal. AccPro Lite validates that debits equal credits before it posts.

  5. 5.Load open invoices and bills

Import unpaid customer invoices and supplier bills as at the changeover date so your aged receivables and payables agree to the trial balance control accounts.

  6. 6.Connect your bank statements

Import CSV, OFX, Excel or PDF statements from any major South African bank. Scanned PDFs are read with AI OCR, and payments import as negative amounts so the running balance reconciles.

  7. 7.Reconcile and confirm

Reconcile the first bank period, check the VAT control account, then run your first VAT201 summary. Once it agrees, stop capturing in Sage Business Cloud Accounting.

What to check afterwards

  • Trial balance in AccPro Lite agrees line for line to the export from Sage Business Cloud Accounting.
  • Aged receivables and payables agree to the debtors and creditors control accounts.
  • Bank balances agree to the statement closing balance at the changeover date.
  • VAT control account agrees to your last submitted VAT201.
  • CIPC annual return date and financial year end are captured on the company record.
